This is my Pod. You'll find my profile here and my files here. It is like a webserver containing a homepage or a blog. And nobody owns it except for myself. Cause I trust my Pod-Provider that they handle my data with care. I could serve it from my homebox as well. See, this Solid project flips the web right side up to reclaim it from the big tech giants and put every John Doe in control. I maintain solidweb.org, solidweb.me and another which are all three kinda grassroots projects and you can do, too. All you need is a root machine and a docker and the CSS software or even a local machine running one of our three servers.

A Pod is your personal online datastore and the Webid is your identification to the ecosystem some people call Web 3.0 ...

Yes it is encrypted (at least on the transport layer) and no is not connected to blockchain.
